The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) is offering two full-time internships in our Washington, D.C. office this summer. This opportunity will provide the successful candidates with hands-on learning in federal advocacy, research, higher education, communications and outreach, and the Jesuit mission.
ABOUT AJCU: The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities (AJCU) is a national organization that represents Jesuit higher education among its various constituencies; provides a forum for the exchange of information and experiences in Jesuit higher education; and encourages and facilitates collaborative initiatives among its member institutions. Those initiatives include fostering Jesuit, Catholic identity and mission; educating for a faith that promotes justice; supporting national, international and online collaborations between campuses; and sponsoring professional and leadership development programs.
The interns will assist AJCU staff in an array of projects such as:
Government Relations:
• Preparation for AJCU advocacy visits to Capitol Hill; attend Hill meetings (virtual or in-person)
• Preparation for Committee for Education Funding (CEF) meetings; attend meetings (virtual or inperson)
• Planning and preparation for AJCU’s September 2022 Government Relations and Financial Aid Conference
Communications:
• AJCU’s social media (creating advocacy related content)
• AJCU’s website
• Communications database research
• Connections: Each intern will have the opportunity to write an 800-1,000 word piece that will be published in Connections, AJCU’s online magazine
Mission and Formation • Preparing for AJCU’s October Presidents’ Meetings • Research for mission and formation initiatives Office-wide tasks: • Research to enhance AJCU databases and directories • Special archiving projects • General office tasks – answering phones, sorting mail, compiling information, proofreading letters and other documents
To Apply:
The internships will run from June to August 2022. There will be a stipend of $16.10/hour for up to 35 hours per week. The selected interns would need to identify and cover the costs of housing in D.C. Interns will be notified of their positions by mid-May.
