Internship Function:

Through this internship in the Office of Economic and Community Development, you will learn and be given hands on experience in nearly all levels of social media outreach on behalf of the City of Scranton. The City of Scranton is currently seeking a self-driven, motivated candidate looking to promote the City through its social media platforms.


The intern will have a range of responsibilities, act under the direct supervision of the Community Outreach Coordinator of the Office of Economic and Community Development.



Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

· Assists in the creation, implementation, management of The City of Scranton’s social media platforms

· Works with various city departments, community organization, and OECD grantees to collect and organize social media content

· Research and develop content connected to City initiatives

· Oversee the City of Scranton social media email

· Provide data tracking, engagement, and other reports as requested during bi-weekly planning meetings

· Other related, necessary duties as required by the Community Outreach Coordinator



Skills and Background:

- General understanding of technology and a wide array of media/social media platforms

- Proficient with various computer systems (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, etc.)

- Excellent Communication skills (Both orally and written)

- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, government officials, and the general public

- Ability to take on and handle multiple projects

- Ability to deal with difficult situations accurately and effectively



Hours:

This internship requires you to work at least twenty (20) hours per week. Hours are flexible in regards to specific times and days.
