Media Relations Internship

Purpose

Media Relations Intern

AKCG is seeking two enthusiastic, professional and forward-thinking students to join its media relations team from January 9 to April 28, 2023. You will work directly with the AKCG team to support clients through a number of efforts, including drafting news releases, media alerts, articles and social media posts, helping curate media lists, and pitching media. Additionally, you may help develop content for AKCG’s social media channels and website and perform secondary research to help drive and promote the agency.

This internship may be conducted in-person or remotely.

Position Benefits

• Build your portfolio by writing articles, news releases and media pitches for AKCG clients

• Provide input on strategy and develop content for AKCG’s social media accounts

• Learn how to perform secondary research to help develop marketing plans for the agency

• Contribute to brainstorming sessions to improve client offerings and internal agency marketing

• Better understand the inner workings of agency function and operation and client service

Position Requirements

• A senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field

• Superior command of grammar and AP style

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills

• Flexibility to shift between numerous accounts, projects and efforts throughout the day

• Access to reliable computer and internet

• Graphic design experience a plus

Duration

Weekly schedule will accommodate school schedules. Applicants should have availability for 15 hours per week over a 16-week period (January 9 to April 28, 2023).

Compensation

Internship employment with AKCG is temporary, beginning on or about January 9, 2023, and terminating on or about April 28, 2023. AKCG will compensate interns at an hourly rate of $13 per hour, or approximately $3,120, before taxes. Interns are not entitled to and will not receive employee benefits (such as paid time off, access to health insurance reimbursements, etc.).

Dress Code

Casual (while remote) and business casual (in office, if needed).
