RailRiders Community Relations Internship

Overview: The SWB RailRiders Community Relations Intern is responsible for providing assistance to the Director of Community Relations with all planning, coordination, and execution of community programs and events as well as assistance with organizational and administrative tasks associated with the SWB Pinstripes Foundation. Students interested in PR, marketing, communication, sports management, or non-profit management are highly encouraged to apply.


Duration: May – September (preferred)


Compensation: Paid ($8.00/hour on Game Days) and available for college credit. *Student must be receiving college credit to apply.


Responsibilities:

Including, but not limited to:

· Answer and fulfill donation, mascot appearance, and player appearance requests.

· Assist in execution of theme nights, awareness nights, mascot related events (CHAMP’s Birthday) and community initiatives during RailRiders’ home games including MiLB Charity Initiatives, the Copa Initiative, and SWB Pinstripes Foundation events and fundraisers.

· Assist in planning and execution of all community related special events and charity walks held at PNC Field throughout the year.

· Assist in creation and execution of weekly Community News and Updates e-newsletter.

· Assistance in attending community festivals, dinners, fundraisers, and other events as a representative of the team and Community Relations Department.

· Carryout game-day on-field and in-game Community Relations responsibilities.

· Work together with the Marketing Department to execute social media posts and campaigns related to community relations activities.

· Assist in scheduling and coordination of participants in the RailRiders’ T-Mobile Hometown Heroes Program, Community Organization of the Game program, National Anthem program, etc.

· Manage and organize materials related to in-game jersey and merchandise auctions.

· Additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Community Relations.


Requirements:

· Must be willing to work long hours including holidays, weekends and weeknights.

· Will need to attend at least half of all RailRiders home games (especially key events and special community initiative games).

· Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

· Must have a reliable car and valid driver’s license.

· Basic computer skills, including ability in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

· Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required.
