• Assist in Gameday operations
o Perform duties such as operating the scoreboard, updating the score on the live stream computer, communicate substitutions and penalties/cards via radio to the press box, operating cameras for live streams, operating the shot clock for lacrosse.
• Assist the Sports Information Directors with statistical help, as needed
• Perform office work on non-game days, such as tagging and archiving photos and videos, creating social media content, updating the athletics website, assisting in making NCAA tournament credentials and other duties assigned by the supervisor.
• Assist with weekly awards nominations for various organizations, including the Landmark Conference, d3hoops.com and coaches’ associations
• Write game stories and press releases to be published on the athletics website, as assigned by the Sports Information Directors
• Assist with information requests from various areas on campus, including marketing, alumni relations, admissions, etc.
• Help create postgame video highlights to be published on social media
Expectations
Students will work 10-15 hours per week during 15-week semesters to earn three free elective credits with no grade, only credit satisfactory or credit unsatisfactory. Students will apply for the internship through the Department of Communication and Media and interview with the Athletics Department for each position. Upon securing a position, students will complete the university internship proposal form that must be approved by a sponsoring faculty member and the Chair of the Department of Communication.
